A coal consignment of 42 wagons was loaded and sent to Bihar, integrating Meghalaya into India\u2019s rail freight network.<\/p><p>Mendipathar, the state\u2019s only railway station, has steadily expanded freight handling since early 2025. Railways expect the move to boost the state\u2019s economy by improving connectivity, lowering logistics costs, and supporting local industries, especially in remote and hilly
